FAQs

Sedation is a technique used to help patients relax and feel less anxious during treatment. It won’t put you completely to sleep but it can make you feel drowsy and less aware of your surroundings so that you feel able to get the treatment you need comfortably.

No, conscious sedation carried out at any dental clinic is there to help you relax but not be completely asleep. Thanks to the safe medicine we use for sedation, Midazolam, patients often comment on how short treatment felt and typically forget about what was done during sedation allowing them to receive more complex care comfortably.

At Swindon Dental and Implant Clinic, we find our calm and gentle approach can help put the most nervous patients at ease. However, sedation is an excellent option for those patients who have had particularly bad experiences in the past or are anxious/phobic. Sedation also helps patients with severe gag reflex or it is recommended by us for those receiving more complex treatment.

After treatment with dental sedation, you are likely to feel a little drowsy. This is quite normal and you must always attend with someone to help you get home and to stay with you for 24 hours after treatment.

The cost of dental sedation can vary depending on the type of treatment you are having done and the length of sedation but prices start from as little as £295 per session.
